Wongan Hills MEAS Tennis Courts

Wongan Hills MEAS Tennis Courts

Recently the Wongan Hills tennis courts were relocated to the Wongan Sports Pavilion as part of a multi-million dollar sporting facility upgrade.  To assist this process, Earthtrack were engaged to advise, plan & supply the lighting of the newly built tennis courts and surrounding areas.

The lighting had to meet AS2560.2.1:2003 compliance (Australian Standard for National Competition Level for Outdoor Tennis Lighting), so games could be played at night particularly in the summer months.

The Earthtrack team gave guidance on products and lighting design to ensure lighting consistency and glare reduction for courts, as well as good visibility levels on surrounding pathways and in a sheltered carpark.

The Testing & Results

The court lighting was comprehensively tested by a third party to ensure compliance with AS 2560.2.1-2003 Sports lighting – Outdoor Tennis Standard.

Measurements were taken at ground level using a Lux meter with data logger at 3 second intervals across the main playing area. As the official markings of playing areas were not completed at the time of measurements, the whole area was treated as (PPA) principal playing area.

The results were positive, reporting good visual condition and all lux readings and uniformity ratios complied with the Outdoor Tennis Standard.

The client was appreciative of the result, with the court lighting compliance and the great impact that the light made in surrounding areas.
